Climbing outdoors can offer a more natural and in some ways a more challenging environment than climbing indoors at a climbing or bouldering wall. This can sometimes make it seem quite daunting to someone who has not done it before. However, Hastings & Tonbridge area provides you with opportunities from climbing indoors to climbing outside on real natural rock.
The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) is the representative body that exists to protect the freedoms and promote the interests of climbers, hill walkers and mountaineers, including ski-mountaineers. The BMC recognises that climbing, hill walking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.
Indoor Climbing centers in Hastings have climbing areas for children and adults of all ages and abilities, all you have to do is turn up during opening hours. No experience or booking is required to use the Bouldering (Un-roped Climbing) areas - Just turn up, pay and climb.
They are passionate about climbing. Their instructors treat every student as an individual. They work with you to improve your climbing skills, whether it’s a children's birthday party or specific tuition for experienced climbers. If you’re a beginner, just starting out, or an advanced veteran there will be something to challenge you.

Hastings Rock and Fell Club is an active, friendly, Sussex based club organising regular climbing and walking trips and social activities. We meet every Monday at the climbing wall at the St Leonard's Academy, Edinburgh Road, St Leonards @ 7pm. In the Spring and Summer we also use the Bowles Outdoor Centre, Sandhill Lane, Eridge Green, Tunbridge Wells
