Canoeing and Kayaking in Hastings

Hastings & Tonbridge is the home of a number of excellent canoe & kayaks clubs. Canoe clubs are a great place to learn kayaking and canoeing skills as well as being a great place to meet fellow paddlers. The majority of local canoe clubs run the BCU Star Award Schemes and various other training courses throughout the year. In addition to paddling in home waters many of the local canoe clubs organise trips to locations throughout the UK and some even abroad.

Paddling on the sea is their main activity; but they like to introduce members to all kayaking disciplines. They host national ranking competitions including Slalom (where you negotiate a course of gates moving downstream) and Marathon (long distance flat water racing). They also organise regular trips away to provide different paddling opportunities to suit differing abilities.

You should advise your coach of any medical conditions before you start paddling. At busy times, particularly in the summer, the clubs often have more people than they can accommodate. They will do all they can to get everyone on the water.
